"From Showcards to Illuminated Signs we have done it all"
Moosehead Signs is a 2nd generation Sign Company. The 1st generation signpainter was Harold B. Stade. After serving with the 82nd Airborne as a Pathfinder during WWII in the European Theater, Harold attended a New York Trade School for Fine Lettering & Showcard Artist. One of his instructors was an old master who at the turn of the century lettered and striped stage coaches. That was his start in the Sign Business and he continued lettering until the age of 90. Harold passed away on June 11th 2010. In the early 1950's he developed an idea of Hand Painting Pumpkins. He called them, "FUNNYKINS, The Original Hand Painted Pumpkin" and Registered a Trademark through the US Patent Office.
These were sold all over the N.Y. Metropolitan Area for over 45 years, receiving national recognition on The Walter Cronkite's Evening News during the 60's and early 70's. In 1965 Harold moved the family to Shirley Mills, Maine where his wife Betty operated a small restaurant in the area called "The Ledges". Harold continued making signs and painting pumpkins.
Harold's son, Tom joined him with all of the same skills. Owning and operating a Commercial Sign Shop in Northern NJ that started in 1978. He moved back to Maine in 1997 where he worked as a Project Manager for Neokraft Signs out of Lewiston. In 2008 Tom moved back to the Moosehead Lake area to continue making signs as his Dad.
Moosehead Signs believes in always going the extra mile for its customers providing quality at a fair price.
