Moosehead Signs is a 2nd generation Sign Company. The 1st generation signpainter was Harold B. Stade. Harold served in the 82nd Airborne in WWII. After the war he attended a very well known New York Trade School at the time for Fine Lettering & Showcard Artist. One of his instructors was an old master who at the turn of the century lettered and striped stage coaches. That was his start in the Sign Business and he continued lettering to the age of 90. Harold past away on June 11th 2010. During His career he developed the idea of Hand Painting Pumpkins in the early '50s called the "FUNNYKINS,The Original Hand Painted Pumpkin" which is a Registered Trademark with the US Patent Office.

These were sold all over the N.Y. Metropolitan Area for over 30 years. This was very successful and received recognition on the national news many times during the 60's and early 70's such as Walter Cronkite's CBS Evening News. In 1965 the Stade Family moved to Shirley Mills, Maine where his wife Betty operated a small well known restaurant in the area called "The Ledges". Harold continued making signs and painting pumpkins.

Harold's son, Tom joined him with all of the same skills. Owning and operating a Commercial Sign Shop in Northern NJ. Tom has had his sign business since 1978. He has a broader experience than his Dad for the types of signs a full commercial shop makes, but Tom will tell you he has only 1/4 of his Dad's talent. Yet that 1/4 has taken him a long ways. Tom moved back to Maine in 1997 and worked as a Project Manager for Neokraft Signs out of Lewiston on various projects such as The Portland Jetport new parking garage project. Tom has recently moved to Greenville to continue the sign business, Moosehead Signs.
